Childerhose Family Genealogy Forum

My info says we came from Holland in the Retinue of William of Orange in 1688 to Lincolnshire, England. That Thomas, the second oldest son, moved to Ireland to manage the estate of (SISR or SIR) Aubrey deVere in 1720 (?), and that he married Elizabeth Chambers. I'm interested in the reply that mentions the possibility of originating out of Germany. I am having no luck finding it in Holland! Some of my search suggests that the name is an offshoot of the Childers clan in England, and that they claim us in their clan/tartan. I'm not sure of the credibility to this, but is worth pursuing. I think I was looking up tartans/clans (?) There is mention to Childerhose (childers) being a medieval York family (600's. There was also mention of the family moving to Ireland and then on to Holland. This may be how we got to Holland in the first place!? I am just starting my online search and as a computer rookie have not yet learned the way into actual documents in these countries (ie church records) I'll let you know if I find more. --
