Do you believe the Holdredge Chidester, b. 1746 could actually be named "William Holdredge" or "Holdredge William" Chidester? I'm a 7th generation decendent from that Holdridge Chidester, but wondering about the name. In the 1920s-30s, a McCafferty relative did some work connecting via family interviews, records, etc., the McCafferty/Cafferty and Chidester families. As for the Chidester family, I have only a difficult-to-read chart going back through Mary Chidester McCafferty, her father, Joshua Chidester, to his father, "Rev. Soldier, Wm. Chidister, Holdredge" (exactly as it is written). No dates, place of birth, wife, but the line agrees with your data. "Cornwall, Conn., Springfield, NJ, and Washington Co., PA 1790" is written below his name along with something unreadable, possibly "married" is one word. Any documentation for Elizabeth Selzer? Thank you for your thoughts and for being our Chidester guru. PB
