I understand the name Chidester comes from Chichester, which is a town in southern England. The name Chichester is pronounced as we pronounce Chidester.I beleive Chichester and Chidester can be considered one and the same. The town of Chichester I understand was derived from the name of a son of Roman Official who was governor of that area. I have also heard that the prefix Chi is derivedfrom a Roman word that means "high" and that chester is derived from a Roman word that means camp. All of which may mean nothing but at least it sounds interesting.
