Hi Kate
You've very much got what I've got regarding Robert Chick (b 1818) except that I've got a copy of Robert & Sarah's Marriage Certificate and can add that:-
They were married 30 July 1930 at "the church in the Parish of North Petherton" - which presumably means the medieval Parish Church of St Marys
Thet were both aged 20
Robert was a mason
Robert father was Samuel Chick, Labourer
Sarah's Father was Robert Chick, Labourer (which ties in with the father-in-law living with them in 1851).
Also it was Hammet Street where they lived in 1861/71 (the street is still there).
The Chicks of North Petherton are a tricky lot - several families, presumably related at some point, all tending to recycle the same Christian names down the generations, giving you cousins with the same Christian & Surnames!
Best of luck with your researches. It would be interesting to confirm whether the George Martin that married my Great Aunt Mabel was one of your Martins - but I can't find much trace - the on-line records perversely seem to get worse as you move into the 20th century!
Regards
Your Cousin (nth removed) Richard
