Kenneth....

I have extensively researched the Chick name in Somerset for the last 20 years or so.... my branch heralds from Wayford (positive date of August 1802) where the marriage of William CHICK and Elizabeth BRYANT (b Oct 1781 Hinton St. George) took place on Jul 12 1801 in Hinton St. George. I have failed to find either William's birth or death (though it may have been over the border in Dorset though it is taking time to trawl through the Parish records of the little villages !). There was a suggestion that William was born in North Petherton in the notoriously unreliable IGI, but I could not find concrete proof of this, and was therefore not happy to make that assumption. Likewise I could not find a will for William (who died between mid 1815 and Sep 1833 when his wife's will was proved).

Enough rambling.... if you'd like any more info let me know and likewise if you have any details that might shed some light I'd be very grateful...

Regards

Angie
