hello, it would be interesting to know when the Chiasson/Chaisson name spelling changed to Chesson in extreme southwest louisiana (mostly calcasieu parish). My grandfather was born Jean Bapitste Chiasson around 1880 in the vicinity of Vinton,Louisiana (not far from Orange TX) and died as John Baptist Chesson (in Lake Charles) in the 1940s. The massive immigration of anglo americans from the mid-west after within this time frame probably had a lot to do with this change (and also a marriage to an anglo-texan, Annie Lassiter McKellar)
