Rachel:
I am sorry to respond so late but I was moving from California to Houston. I think there is a huge possibility that they where related, but if they where brothers why he didn't have the Cheyne name first? James Cheyne Auchinlech.

I know that my great grand father had 6 siblings all born in Edimburg Scotland ,one of them George, fought in the Trafalgar battle. There are some direct relatives in London :Sir Joseph Cheyne Mayor in the army and later the British embassador to Italy.

In which city do you live? You can go to the British Embassy where they have books of who is who in the UK.It will be easier since Cheyne and Auchinlech are not common names and the ancesters came from Royalty.

Let me know. Sandra Cheyne Jaramillo
