Greetings --Here is what I have on the oldest part of the Chew family: +John Chew (1590-1669) came from England aboard the ship "Charitie" with first wife who died early second wife was +Rachel Barnstable (? - 1668), married in 1651. John and Rachel were parents of +Joseph Chew married to +Ruth Larkin, who were parents of +Larkin Chew who was married to +Hannah Roy, daughter of John Roy of Port Royal VA. Larkin was a member of the 1722 House of Burgess, also served as a judge and sheriff. His children were a. Joseph, died in infancy +Thomas b. Ann c. John, who married Ann Fox d. Larkin, who married Mary Beverly +Thomas Chew, who married Martha Taylor (aunt of James Madison and great-aunt of Zachary Taylor). Thomas was a wealthy and respected Col. in the Army, who was closely associated with the Madison family. My husband's line descends from this marriage. I have more if you are interested.
