Greetings --

Here is what I have on the oldest part of the
Chew family:
+John Chew (1590-1669) came from England aboard
the ship "Charitie" with first wife who died early
second wife was +Rachel Barnstable (? - 1668),
married in 1651. John and Rachel were parents of
+Joseph Chew married to +Ruth Larkin, who were
parents of
+Larkin Chew who was married to +Hannah Roy,
daughter of John Roy of Port Royal VA.
Larkin was a member of the 1722 House of Burgess,
also served as a judge and sheriff. His children
were
a. Joseph, died in infancy
+Thomas
b. Ann
c. John, who married Ann Fox
d. Larkin, who married Mary Beverly

+Thomas Chew, who married Martha Taylor (aunt of
James Madison and great-aunt of Zachary Taylor).
Thomas was a wealthy and respected Col. in the
Army, who was closely associated with the Madison
family.
My husband's line descends from this marriage. I
have more if you are interested. Includes several
"Colby" children and eventually the Pepples of
Ohio.

Take care!
Kelly Brown
+Larkin Chew
