I really need some help here. I was searching for Israel Alexander Morehead and family and found the following.
1870 US Census for Wilson, Winona, MN
MOREHEAD, J. Alex, age 36, farmer, b. PA (ISRAEL Alexander Morehead)(b. abt. 1834)
Morehead, Phoebe A., age 34, b. NY (b. about 1836)
Morehead, Jacyntha, age 10, b. WI
Morehead, Anna, age 8, b. WI
This is Israel, listed as J. Alex Morehead, his wife and children. Listed just above him on the same page of the census was the following. KEEP IN MIND that Phoebe A. Moreheads maiden name was MOSIER.
1870 US Census for Wilson, Winona,, MN
Mosier, David, age 45, b. NY, farmer (b.about 1825)
Mosier, Jacyntha, age 55, b. NY (keeps house) (b. abt. 1815)
Mosier, Scott, age 21, b. WI (farm laborer) (b. abt. 1849)
Mosier, William, age 14, b. WI (at home) (b. abt. 1856)
Living next door to Israel A. (listed as J. Alex Morehead and his wife Phoebe A. Mosier Morehead)
So now we can see that David Mosier is too young to be Phoebe's father.
Jacintha/Jacyntha is old enough (21 in 1836) to be Phoebe's mother.
Phoebe Mosier Morehead has named her first born child Jacintha, so their must be some relationship here.
Next, I searched for the 1860 census and found the following:
1860 US Census Wonewoc, Juneau, WI
David Mosier Wonewoc, Juneau, WI 37 abt 1823 New York
Jacinta Mosier Wonewoc, Juneau, WI 45 abt 1815 New York
Richard Mosier Wonewoc, Juneau, WI 11 abt 1849 Wisconsin
Flora Mosier Wonewoc, Juneau, WI 8 abt 1852 Wisconsin
This is the same David and Jacintha, as I have enough info to conclude that.
I also have it from my grandmothers bible that Phoebe married Israel (J. Alex) in 1860, so that is why she isn't included with this family for that year.
Next I searched the 1850 census and found the following, and here is where I need the help in proving that my gut feelings are correct. This is what I found.
1850 US Census for Palmyra, Jefferson, WI
David Mosier Palmyra, Jefferson, WI abt 1824 New York
Jacintho Mosier Palmyra, Jefferson, WI abt 1815 New York
Norman Mosier Palmyra, Jefferson, WI abt 1829 New York
Richard S Mosier Palmyra, Jefferson, WI abt 1849 Wisconsin
Phebe A Chew Palmyra, Jefferson, WI abt 1836 New York
Esther Chew Palmyra, Jefferson, WI abt 1840 New York
Esther Chew Palmyra, Jefferson, WI abt 1790 New Jersey (What relation to the above two
CHEW children? She is listed on page 9 of census and the Mosier family w/the two CHEW
children are on page 4.)
Well, now we have Phebe A. Chew at the right age as the Phoebe/Phebe Mosier I have been searching for. Could they be one and the same? Was she adobted by David Mosier after 1850? Is the Jacintho listed here the mother of Phebe Chew and married before David Mosier to a Unknown Chew or is she just a relation of Phebe Mosier (Chew) that she loved enough to name her first born dau. after.???
Then we have on another page of the census the only other CHEW living in the same township, same county as Phoebe and her sister Esther. Her name is also Esther, born abt.1790. She is old enough to have had a son that could have married Jacintha, but I still need proof and don't know where to begin to look for it since no one seems to have downloaded any info on this Chew family.
If you can help it would sure be appreciated.
