It is not at all clear that Margaret Cohune/Calhoun mentioned in the will of John Drury Chew is a sibling of William and Edward Mitchusson. I am descended from Lucretia Calhoun, a niece of Edward Mitchusson, who as her uncle and guardian gave his consent for her marriage in Caldwell Co, KY. The Margaret Calhoun who is mentioned in John Drury Chew's will is referred to in the will as receiving certain support from his estate as long as she remains a single woman. In another place in the will she appears to be referred to as a mother of children. Very confusing! In any event, this Margaret Calhoun was married to a James McElhenny (She is mentioned in deeds when he sells land.)PRIOR to the birth years of my ancestor Lucretia Calhoun and her two (probable) sisters Gracey and Emeranda Calhoun. So Margaret was no longer a Calhoun at the time of the birth of "my" Lucretia. If Margaret Calhoun is assumed to be a sibling of Edward and William Mitchusson on the basis of being the mother of Lucretia Calhoun, niece of Edward Mitchusson, then I believe on the basis of evidence I have seen to-date that that assumption is incorrect.
Cassandra Chew, daughter of John Drury Chew, did marry a Zadock Ford; and they sued Edward Mitchusson over his handling of her father's estate after Edward Mitchusson had left SC for KY. The case file is lengthy but not enlightening as to other family relationships.
I would very much like to identify the parents of my ancestor Lucretia Calhoun (married a John Stevens in Caldwell Co, KY, in 1813) and am tantalized by the mention of the Calhoun family members along with Edward Mitchusson in John Drury Chew's will; but I have so far been unable to find a connection.
Since Lucretia was born about 1795 and her probable sisters in about 1791 and 1794, her parents should have been still living until at least 1795.
