I can't find a Josiah Poland in our branch of Poland family . It is possible there is a connection. He could be a grandchild of Peter Poland & Hannah Emeline Chess. I don't have the descendants of most of their 16 children, 9 of which were males.

He could also be a grandson of Cavalier Carabien Poland & Susannah Jacobs, either of their son John who was born in 1813 or their son Cavalier Hamilton Poland, who was born in 1818. I don't have any info on their descendants either.

The 'Elbert' in my name is my maiden name, the 'Poland' is my married name (my husband is Michael Poland, who descends from Cavalier Carabien Poland through his son Samuel Warren Poland). There is no connection to anyone named 'Elbert Poland.'

Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.
