I just happened upon your posting this evening and am hoping that you have some connection with the Poland line that I am tracing.

I am seeking information on Josiah Poland who was born 9-22-1832 in Pennsylvania and possibly was born or lived in Greene County. He died 12-4-1911 in Sonoma, California.

He married his first wife, Eliza Minerva Chrisman, December 6, 1857 in Pennsylvania or Iowa. They had ten children.

He married is second wife, Veleria A. Smith, in Lawrence County, Tennessee on 10-15-1889. They had one child who lived to adulthood, Elbert R. Poland, and may have had two others who died in childhood.

Your connection to Greene County Pennsylvania and the fact that "Elbert Poland" is part of your name makes me wonder if there is a connection.

While I have been pretty successful tracing forward from Josiah and Eliza and their children, I have hit a brick wall in efforts to trace back to Josiah and Veleria's parents, siblings and earlier ancestors.

If there is a connection, any information that you could share with me would be greatly appreciated.
