I have a Baptiste Cheshire (or Baptist Chessher) whose daughter Nancy Cheshire was born abt. 1788 in Halifax Co., VA. He also had a son named John Baptist Chesshir b. April 26, 1819, Halifax Co., VA. Baptist Cheshire's wife was Betsy Huland (I do not know if Betsy was short for Elizabeth). Baptist Chessher was the witness on Dec. 19, 1803, when his daughter, Nancy, got the marriage lic. to marry Elijah Woosley. Nancy and Elijah moved to Flat Creek, Bedford Co., Tennessee in 1819 with their family. I know that Baptist's son, John Baptist Chesshir, moved to Nashville, Howard Co., Arkansas, from either Indiana or Illinois--it tells in the 1870 census for Pike County, Arkansas. Some of the information I have is from the "Howard Co. (Arkansas)Heritage" book published in 1988. Other info comes from family Bible records. Many descendants of Nancy and John Baptist Chesshir resided in Nashville, Howard Co., Arkansas.
