I am researching two soldiers who enlisted in the 26th Arkansas Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. They are:

Balis ( Bayless ) E. Cherry Co. A Pvt/Pvt
Enlisted 3 May 1862 at Monticello, Drew County, Arkansas; 50 miles from home. Absent sick
at Mulberry Creek 31 Oct 1862. Granted 30-day furlough 21 Mar 1863. Present through Feb
1864.

Levi Cherry Co. I Pvt/Pvt
Enlisted 5 Aug 1862 at Camp Crystal Hill, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Claimed by Company G,
32nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment (Previously Matlock's Cavalry Battalion) as deserter on 12
Aug 1862. Enlisted Jun 1861 in First Company I, 8th Arkasnsas Infantry Regiment. Enlisted
13 Jun 1862 at Camp Cache in Company G, 32nd Arkansas Infantry. Captured at Helena,
Arkansas 4 Jul 1863.

I have no genealogical connection to these men but am writing a book on their regiment. Any help in learning their dates/places of birth, death, and burial location would be greatly appreciated.
