The village of Cropredy, Oxfordshire has a large number of CHERRY family members whose names appear on headstones of St Mary's Church. The monumental inscriptions are available on microfilm. Can't find the name George but many would have been born about the time of your George and later. The CHERRY name was also evident in this village right back to the 1500s. Have you tried looking there? Hope this helps.

PS I am in Australia looking for English ancestors. The CHERRY name appears in a marriage to a SHIRLEY (my line) in Cropredy, Oxfordshire in 1579 but can find no obvious connection to my family.
