Margie, I feel my ancestor may be related to yours. Louisa Minerva Cherry was born c 1828 and d. 28 Jan 1898. She married Isaiah C. Pennington in Jackson Co., TN in 1846. Her parents were Cary Cherry and Isabelle McAdoo, and when Cary was nine years old, traveled to TN from Edgecombe Co., NC. His parents were Lemuel and Sarah McPherson Cherry. Cary had 3 brothers, John, Wilson and Wiley. His sisters were Martha, Sarah, Elizabeth & Mary. All brothers fought in the Battle of New Orleans.
I am not in the area to research this family more, but Cary & Isabelle had 9 children, and Isaiah & Louisa had 7 to grow to adulthood.
