Ihave been told that my Great Grandfather was Columbus Franklin Cherry. They say he was born in Hardin county, TN. April 27, 1825. It is said that he left Hardin County when he was about 13 years old.

They say he was with Fremont during the Mexican War. He was in California before the Gold Rush.

His daughter, my Grandmother was born to his first wife, a Miwok Native American around Calaveras County, California in 1855.

Columbus had a second family in California after my Great Grandmother died. I have talked to some of these decendants.

Please help me with information about Columbus Franklin Cherry's family and any information about Columbus after he left Tennessee.

Thank you,

Dave Tilford
