Dear Shirley, According to the book, "The History of the Chenoweth Family" by Cora Chenoweth Hiatt published in 1925, there was a John Chenoweth who came to America from England with his wife, Mary Calvert. Mary was supposedly the daughter of Charles Calvert, who was the 3rd Lord Baltimore, the proprietor of Maryland. In reality, Mary was not his daughter but was the daughter of another man, also with the surname Calvert and Judith Stamper who lived in Pennsylvania. The author of the book also had misgivings about Mary being fathered by a nobleman and I thought it was rather odd that the man she married, John Chenoweth, was a blacksmith and a nobleman would allow such a union for his daughter. John and Mary (Calvert) Chenoweth lived by the Gunpowder River in Maryland and had 5 sons and 3 daughters. Sons were:John, Richard, Arthur, William and Thomas. Daughters were: Mary Watson, Hannah Carter, and Ruth Petitt. Son Thomas served in the Revolutionary War. As for 2 or 3 Chenoweth brothers coming to America, I have yet to see any evidence of that.
