MARTHA H. CHENOWETH was born October ll, l83l, in Dark County, Ohio.
She resided in Ohio for 28 years. She was united in marriage to JACOB
L. HARLESS on July l, l854. To this union were born three children, two
dying in early childhood. She is survived by her son, FRANK A. HARLESS,
of LaSalle, Iowa, and an adopted son, HOMER H. HARLESS, of Weldon, Iowa,
and her grandchildren and relatives. She was the last of a family of
twelve children.
When eight years of age she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church.
She was a loyal member for over seventy-six years. She has been a
constant reader of the Central Christian Advocate and other church
papers for seventy years. She has been feeble for fifteen years. Her
husband has been dead for nine years. These two people were Saints of
God. She was laid to rest by her Pastor, Edwin James Laird. She died
at her home in Weldon, Iowa, December 2, l9l5.
