Re your correspondence...I was told that Edward Chenoweth was the uncle of the Rev. James B. Chenoweth and also his father. I have a different birthdate for Elizabeth Davis...which according to my date and the LDS Library she is kin to John Davis of Pittsylvania Co., Va. MY source on Elizabeth is a letter from a Mrs. Daunt whom the family hired way back when...and she supposedly took the data from the tombstones. I have since been told they no longer are there....I found via my Lawson Hist. conntact in Tenn...a land deed that Edward Chenoweth had been on "Lackey's Creek"...Blount Co., Tenn. This seemed correct to me because many of the 1847 Wagon Train people to Oregon had roots in Blount Co., Tn. and Pittsylvania Co., Va. they were in Berekley Co., records as minister's. They also have a Kentucky brief Association around Harrodsburg, Ky. because of Eliza Ann Davis/Glenn....she was a Grandaughter of Col. Harrod. You will see a John Lawson in Ky. that is also in my husband's lineage...according to the Hiatt Chenoweth History...they both shared having come from "Gunpowder Manor:" in Maryland at one time. I don't know what you feel the roots are....but because of the heavy allied Scottish Assoc. also Irish... I wondered if Chenoweth was not gaelic for "Church Way'...or meaning a person of that disposition or occupation. I will get this data to you but headed out for the next several weeks on business....when I return.......Rev. James B. Chenoweth m. Elizabeth Davis raised Sarah Ann Davis...whom married Jeremiah Larkins son of William E. Larkins and Racheal Reed 1847 Oregon Pioneers. My mother's lineage is of Jeremiah and Sarah Ann's only son.....William Larkins..
