Hello Jon,
Karen King Hiatt, had forward some of your e:mails on to me, and I must say that there is some interesting reading in the e:mails and your wonderful informational packed website. I've also have seen some communications between you and Lorene Lambert who is actively researching the Barnes family.
I don't know if we are cousins at present, but thanks to you I certainly have enough basic information to start hitting the library’s in the Randolph, Wayne & Jay Counties in Indiana. Since I'm a resident here this will be an easier task for me than for others that are of any distance.
I have a strong Hiatt heritage already in my data base although I currently don't have Martha Caroline Hiatt 1855-1931 who was married to William Henry Chenoweth, so I went library searching and guess what I found?

This is what I found trying to connect Martha Caroline Hiatt to my Hiatt's:
First I went to the Winchester Community Library in Winchester, Randolph Cty., Indiana and I looked through some of the personal family worksheets that were donated by the Chenoweth family and they had Martha listed as Bertha Carrie Platt married to William Henry Chenoweth in December 22, 1872, the son of William Columbus, known as Columbus.
Then I found her obituary in the Randolph County Obituaries 1900-1936, Volume 5, page 848, complied from The Winchester Democrat Newspaper by Willard Hiess, Mary Wright Dennis, Jane Dennis Thomas & Nila Harris Howell.
Aged Lady Claimed by Death
1-22-1931
Mrs. Carrie Chenoweth 75, died at her home at Lynn, Thursday evening at 7:o'clock She is survived by the husband, William H. Chenoweth, three sons, Leonard, Emery and Howard, of near Lynn. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Lynn North Christian Church, the Rev. Mr. Rowe of Cincinnati, Ohio officiating, Burial was made in the Spartanburg Cemetery.
Then I went to the Randolph County Genealogy Society's Library and I found the Randolph County Book of Marriages a listing of CHENOWETH, William H., married Martha E. Platt, December 21, 1872 by James D. Bowen, J.P.
In the Lynn Death Book 2 CHENOWETH, Martha Caroline died 1-15-1931, F75M Spartansburg Cemetery, parents W.H. Platt of Ohio and Mary Hill of Randolph County, Indiana
Then I checked on some of the children just to make sure and in the Randolph County Marriage Applications Book there was listed:

I believe that we have a connection somewhere in the vastness of your website, but I feel that there is enough prove on Martha Caroline Hiatt that she is actually a Platt. I would still like to be apart of you Chenoweth Cousins List and I do have some more info and can easily obtain info on the Chenoweth Surname. From you website I'm most interested in the Barnes, Cox, Campbell, Hiatt, Hiett & Hinshaw Surnames I've just not got them checked out yet. As for Alvin I. Hiatt and some of his siblings that are married into the Chenoweths, I have a very skeleton base of information at present, that still needs research in Randolph and Wayne Counties on my part.
