Attempting to find my Grandmother's parents and grandparents. She was Martha Caroline "mattie" Knight. Born in TN 6/16/1882. Father was James Knight. Mother Anna Chenault/Chennault. She married my Grandfather John Milton Mefford/Mefferd in Stephenville, Erath County, TX in 1897. My Uncle said that he thought she was born in Nashville. I thought she told me Memphis. This was 50+ years ago and I was a little kid. During WWII she told me that Claire Chennault was related to her. I thought she said her Mothers younger brother, she may have said the son of a younger brother. again I was a kid then. I do remember her telling me that the whole family was mad at him for marrying out of his race. In the 40s, in the South, you just didn't do that. Thanks for any help
