Have you tried contacting Carolyn Sue Chenault thru the Chenault family web page? The spelling is slightly different, but she is the historian and has access to a lot of information on all spellings of the Chenault, Chennault, Shinault family name. We all seem to trace our lines back thru Etienne Cheneau and into France. Try www.chenault.org and click on the "contact us" link. She has helped me out with a seemingly blank wall.
