You can trace the line of Maryland Cheneys back to Richard Cheney, b. 23 Jan 1566 in London.
Many internet genealogies show his father to be Richard Cheney, b. 1524 in Higham, Milstead, Kent, England, m. Mary, and d. 1591 in Gwithean, Cornwall. This Richard in turn is said to be the son of John Cheney and Mary Gyles.
Once you get to John, you've got a clear shot back through the Norman conquest all the way to Charlemagne.
Most of these people have a lot of documentation that ties them together. But I haven't been able to find any documentation on Richard Cheney, b. 1524.
Is there anyone who has anything to support Richard 1524 being the father of Richard 1566?
