Heirs of Benjamin Cheney, Anne Arundel Co. MD 1801
A court dispute over the estate of Benjamin Cheney of MD in 1801, from the Maryland State Archives, lists his heirs, presumably his children and/or grandchildren:
Benjamin Cheney, Abraham Cheney, Ruth (Cheney) Proctor (m. Joseph Proctor 1776), "Henry" probably Henrietta (Cheney) Hardesty, John Hardesty (her husband, m. 1788), "Delby" actually Deborah (Cheney) Russell, Joseph Russell (her husband, m. 1797), Ann (Cheney) Shekels, John Shekels (her husband, m. 1799) VS. Rebecca Cheney, Wilhelmina Taylor, Samuel Taylor. (A Solomon Taylor married an Eleanor Cheney in AA in 1780; don't know if these are their children.)
Some of the marriages of Benjamin Cheney's heirs took place in Prince George's Co., and some in Anne Arundel. Most of the marriages can be found in Brumbaugh's Maryland Records, except for Proctor which is in Barnes' Maryland Marriages 1634-1777.
