1849er Cheneys/California
Our family believes that Seth Boynton Cheney, son of Samuel Boynton Cheney of Vermont, got on a boat to California in 1849.We think that he worked in the mines for about 4 years and then turned to the cattle industry for work.I found someone that I think is him in the 1870 Census for Bald Hill Township, Humboldt County, CA (Boyugton Cheney), but then he turns up in Donnelly Texas in the 1880 Census as a "stockman".
Does anyone have a California Cheney connection that can tell us if he married in California and whether he left any heirs? Thanks!
