Wish to share information on Stewart CHELLIS (1778-1830), wife Margaret P. DORT (1775-1844). Their children were Johial (1801-?), Elam (1804-?), Almina (1810-?), Sabrina (1811-?), Stewart R. (1813-?), Ira (?-1844), and Titus D. (1816-1890)[my ggg-grandfather]. This family moved from Vermont to Erie County, Pennsylvania sometime in the first half of the 19th century. Titus D. CHELLIS married Polly BURLINGHAM (possibly BURLINGTON) and they had 6 children: Margaret Freelove (1840-1852), Willard Lorenzo (1843-1868), William Edgar (1845-?), Mary Almina[or Elmina] (1847-?), Edward, and Dort Titus CHELLIS (1863-?). Dort Titus CHELLIS was my gg-grandfather. I have a great deal of info on his children, but he eventually left the family and his final whereabouts are not known to me. One rumor is that he joined the circus. Another that he moved westward.

Welcome any info, happy to share what I've got. There is a Chellis Family Bible from Stewart CHELLIS which contains most of the old information presented here.

Does anybody know of Stewart CHELLIS' origins/ancestry? Also searching for Dort Titus CHELLIS after he left the family in very early 20th century.
Please email.
