John CHEEVER bp. Aug. 9, 1789 in the Second Congregational (Unitarian) Church, Marblehead - " Killed on board the Frigate Constitution in an Action with the British Frigate Java, when the Said Java was taken," Dec. 29, 1812. And his younger brother, Joseph Pope CHEEVER, s. John and Mary, bp. Aug. 5, 1792. C.R.2. {Second Congregational (Unitarian) Church, Marblehead - "Killed on board the Frigate Constitution in an action with the British Frigate Java, when the said Java was taken," Dec. 29, 1812. They were the only sons of a poor and aged widow, who depended on them for support. Mrs. Mary Colly, married Dec. 7, 1788.* (intentions filed) in Marblehead to John CHEEVER, but I'm not sure when or where John CHEEVER was born? [Has anyone on this message board researched this line ? My John III LANCEY also served from 22 Dec 1813 and was "Killed on board the Frigate USS 'Constitution', Wounded in both thighs; one "shattered." Died 22 Feb 1815 from a battle on 20 Feb. 1815 against the British HMS 'Cyane' and HMS. 'Levant'.]. The Constitution Museum in Boston is interested in their parents for their records.
