Hi Dee, I don't have John on any later censuses but I do have him in my family tree. He married Mary Atherton nee Gaskell who was a widow,on the 16 of September, 1849 in the Wigan Parish Church. They had two children Elizabeth about 1850 and William 1854. I don't have any information about these children's descendents nor about Mary's children from her first marriage.
John's father was also John Cheetham b,1785 and to make things even more confusing he married Mary Atherton. I have the family back to about 1718 in UpHolland Lanc.
A few years ago I was given the "job" of putting together a few Cheetham family trees from the Wigan area into one. The information on your John came from one of the trees that I was given. The John b 1785 was the brother of my ancestor Edward b 1790.
How are you related to John,1826?
