He was a vet of the American Revolution, private, and was promoted to Sgt, 1st Reg NY Troops and later Lt of the Monmouth Co, NJ Militia. He was a Civil War vet of Co F, 12th PA Cavalry, Private, and was disch. 27 June, 1865. Albert Stirling Adams, in his book, "The Cheesman Family", lists other children of William and Lydia Dey Cheesman as: 1. Lawrence, b 28 Oct 1781; d 13 June, 1786 2. Margaret b 7 Dec 1783; d 11 Aug 1818 3. Reuben b 26 June 1788 4. Mary b 11 Sept 1790 5. Enoch b 20 July, 1793 and m Hannah Forman? 6. Sarah, b 9 Mar 1796, Monmouth Co near Freehold; d 1867, Warren Co., Ohio. She m James Hankinson, prob NJ in 1815 and removed to Warren in 1818. 7. Abijah m Hannah Parker 8. Joseph b 7 June 1802 (and m Hannah) Adams also says that William who m Lydia Dey was the son of Joseph Cheesman(1719-1808), Monmouth Co and Lydia Parent (or Lydia Cox).......... If I read it right! 1719 sounds a little early for Joseph to have been the father of William. Hope I have given you something useful! Linda Notify Administrator about this message?
