Dear Emma,

I have recently started to look at the Cheeseman line of my family - my father was a Cheeseman via his maternal surname (his father's family were German and all adopted the Cheeseman name during the Great War). So my paternal great-grandmother was Alice Cheeseman (bn 1869 in Notting Hill); her father was Charles Cheeseman of Beenham (1829-1915); his father was Richard Cheeseman of Beenham (1789 - still kicking around in 1871).

And that's all I know - clearly other Cheesemen/mans in the West Berks area listed earlier than Richard, but none I can establish a link to.

I'd be very interested to know more re-the Cheesemans of Beenham!
