Hi Peter I am obviously more informed than you are at this stage so I will give you what I have and hope that it will give your genealogy a nudge forward. I have the entries for the 1871 Census which is as follows The enumerator (or the family) have been a bit slack and have only given London as their birthplace without districts 1871 Census RG10 Piece 654 4 Charles Street Lambeth Ecclesiastical Parish St Thomas Joseph Cheese Head Married 47 Chelsea Out Pensioner Born London Sarah Cheese Wife Married 42 Born London Mary Ann Dau Unmarried 18 Machinist Born London Walter William Son Unmarried 16 Apprentice Printed Born London Florence Cheese Dau Unmarried 14 Machinist Born London Joseph Cheese Son 12 Scholar Born London Richard Cheese Son 9 Scholar Born London Arthur Cheese Son 4 Born London James Cheese Son 2 Born London In the 1881 Census this family was at the same address. There was one addition Alice 9 Born Lambeth 4 eldest children are not there so presumed to be married. 1891 Census RG12 Piece 391 17 South Street Lambeth Ecclesiastical Parish St Marys Lambeth Sarah Cheese Widow 68 Born London Shoreditch Arthur Cheese Son Single 24 Gas Fitter Born London Lambeth IF you do obtain the marriage certificate of Joseph and Sarah I would be interested to know if Sarah's father George Hawkins is listed as a Greenwich Pensioner.
