Hi Rebecca,
Yes you are right. My "Roots" data does say Alexander Carr Cheek was born in Caswell County. William Noel in his online "roots" data says: "Alexander Carr Cheek was present at Appotmattox Court House when General
Robert E. Lee Surrendered to Grant. It is not unknown at this time what role he played in the surrender of the South."

I have e-mailed Mr. Noel ("Noels of Louisville and Lexington Kentucky") to see if he has anymore information.
