I can get my line back to John CHEEK (bn. abt. 1822) on 1850 census of Halifax Co., Virginia where he married Rebecca Mary Anne (Ann)TARPLEY in 1849. He appears again on 1860 census of Robertson Co., Tenn. with wife "Ann" and "Julia". The only other CHEEK I can find in Robertson Co., Tenn. is the mysterious octaroon Elisha CHEEK (died 1818) who ran Cheek's Tavern and has been linked to nefarious deeds involving missing travelers who lodged at his inn. Does anyone have information on Elisha CHEEK's (of Robertson Co.)children? Could John CHEEK who married "Ann" TARPLEY have been a son of Elisha's? If not, does anyone have ideas/theories on whose child John was?
