No, sorry I have no documented proof. (sometimes it's easiser to disprove a connection than it is to prove) I have not even entered it into my data base yet just using it to give me a starting point.. However I do recomend you get in touch with Wtchetham@aol.com he may have more info as to specifics of the information.

According to his/our theory/info.... Amelia(Mealy) was born a Lester(Amelia Clark&Josiah Lester) but became Step-daughter to Josiah Cheatham when he married her mother.

Millicent Lipscomb, dau. of Henry Lipscomb (of St. Johns Parish, King William Co. Va.), m. 2nd. c.1780, Mrs. Amelia Clark Lester, dau. of Ellison Clark, b. ??? , d. ??? (she m. 1st. Josiah Lester, who d. c.1776, & had children Jacob Lester & Amelia “Mealy” Lester; Mealy, b. c.1774, m. 1st. James Garrott, b. c.1751 Va., d. 1811 Oglethorpe Co. Ga., m. 2nd. 14 July 1814 Oglethorpe Co., William Joseph Elkins & m. 3rd. 1830, John Carter). Children:

By first wife:
       300       i       Millicent Cheatham, b. ??? , m. 24 Nov. 1784 Chesterfield Co., Branch Tucker.
       301       ii       John Cheatham
       302       iii       Ann Cheatham
By second wife:

+       305       vi       Isham Cheatham, b. c.1787 Va., m. 1st. Cynthia Jones.

I have documented through Oral family history, writings and published biography the Cheatham/Jones (304&305)as that is my line. the rest I am still struggling to prove with everyone else. I know this is not what you wanted to hear but I would hate to misslead you. I will store your e-mail and let you know of any break throughs and please do the same for me.
