Hi Flo,
Jordan in Wilkes and The Chavis from Robeson I do believe came out of Granville area. They are probably related. My Tudors came out of Granville and one of them is chain carrier on Jordan's land grant in Wilkes. Then I have "Rogue" John Ussery who's wife was Elizabeth Shaver and I do wonder if her name is a misspell of Chavis. There was a Shaver in Brushy Mountain (town in Wilkes) that was south of where Jordan lived in the Mulberry. I think this Shaver's name was Henry. I have his land record somewhere. I have not worked on this in a while. The Ussery also lived in Brushy Mountain. Ussery had a cabin mentioned in his neighbor's land record but Ussery never owned land. Thomas Ussery is on the 1790 Wilkes census and goes poof. John Ussery who married the Shaver was bound out to Isaac Norman and I do believe he was the son of this Thomas. I cant find the actual record where John got bound out but its posted on the web of being in a will book that I have not been able to locate. I have many missing marriages so it's possible I have a Chavis line.Jordan I think was living by the Bass family and they probably came out of Granville.
Regards
Jodi
