Hi Jared,

Do you know if Joseph & Rosalind lived in the same
neighborhood before they married? What year were they
married? When was Rosalind born? Do you know the name
of any of their children?

I don't have Ancestry.com at present so I have to work with what I have- HeritageQuest which doesn't have the
1930 census. This is what I've found.

There are only a few Chaves heads of households listed in the 1920 census for RI.And only two from the Azores. In
East Providence, RI on what looks like Hope Street
Chaves Manuel M. head, male,38 married, Alien-1901,Azores
Annie wife, 31 Alien 1904 Azores
Manuel son, 9 born in Mass.
Josehp son, 5 born in RI
John, s 4+ born in RI
Irrene(? d 2+ born in RI

On the same census page, 2 families before the Chaves,
on Blick street is the Dutra family.
Durtra Mauel F. head Alien, 1901, Azores
Mary wife alien 1899 Azores
Children Madeline, Joseph, Louise, George, Lionel, Zulmiter all born in RI according to the census.
Is this your Dutra family? This can be a start to
finding your Chaves relatives.
