Thank you for your reply, Lee. Just today I got another bit of information about my Chavers relative. She was referred to as "Black Dutch". A search on the Web revealed that was a term used in the South to describe someone of "mixed ancestery". So odds are she was not Jewish then and was mixed--probably Native American. I also heard though that there are Chavers buried in the Jewish section of the Natchez, MS cemetery. Thank you again for your reply--you've helped us put some pieces together.
