The Chevin or Chavis , Chevers names were taken on by the Tuscarora Indians my ancentors in order to do business with the white people, and to show land ownership after the white people made that ness. The name comes from Nathanel Chevin a french scout. Yes it appears that you are right about William and Bartholomew. They were Tuscaroar warriors. I do not know if Thomas is their blood relative or not since the Chevin , chevers, chavis, was an asomed name by the Tuscarora Indians, of VA and NC, in the 1600's and early 1700's nc was part of va.
