Chavers is just another spelling for Chevin, Chavis, Chaves. The Native American Chavers / Chavis borrowed that name from the french scout that fought with the Tuscarora Indians in the 1700's in North Carolina. Chevin got changed to the other forms since it was a borrowed name anyway. MOst of the original Indians Tuscarora namesare lost . But most of people direct or cousins come from the Va/NC region around the Roanoke River. We are from the agawahntegah people of the water and the Kgahtenoowahgah people of the pines from the Eastern and southern region of the Roanoke River. There are even some chavis chavers enroled on the choctaw Res due to andrew Jackson's Indian removal act of the 1830's. A lot of the Chavers, Chavis, Chaves are related if not just distance cousins.
