Gloria,
Via email I have sent you a file (645K) on Chavana's from Lampazos, NL, Mexico that I downloaded from the Internet some time ago, it starts with Ramon Chavana, born in 1776 - he had 13 children from 1779 to 1829. The file contains several hundred names; unfortunately most of them are descendants of a daughter and there is information only on three of his grandchildren with the Chavana name. (The original file name was "10847.ftw" and I renamed it to "10847 - Ramon Chavana - Lampazos, 1776.ftw". In my limited familiarity with genealogy file formats, ".ftw" is what Family Tree Maker uses - let me know if you need the file in some other format.)
I have yet to find a connection of those Chavana's with my ancestors. The earliest information I have on my Chavana's from Lampazos is for Pedro Chavana, probably born around 1790. I have information on 6 children and one granddaughter (Librada, my grandmother) - as soon as I get this into a file I will forward it to you.
From www.familysearch.com and http://www.ancestry.com/http://www.ancestry.com/ I also obtained a lot of information on scattered Chavana's born in Lampazos primarily in the 1800's. My good intentions are to consolidate these names to see if I can find any connections, but for now this project is low on my priorities.
By the way, for your interests you may consider also exploring Chavana's in Texas; I know for sure that my grandmother migrated from Lampazos to San Antonio, TX and there are numerous Chavanas in Texas.
I would appreciate receiving copy of your Chavana's; who knows we might have a connection! Part of my curiosity is when/how/why these people first arrived in Lampazos. Do you have any information on this?
Stay in touch - best regards,
Tom Rodriguez
