Hi Rosemary
Francois' records are from Denissen's book "French Families of Detroit River Region 1701- 1736" They have the flaw of having "translated" all the names to their English equivalents, so the actual names of people are not certain.
Francois was the 6th child (of 16) of Noel Chauvin and Marie-Jeanne Meloche. My ancestor was the 9th child. For more information please write to my email address.
According to Denissen, Francois had five children: Jean-Baptiste (1813), Jeanne (1816), Elisabeth (1819), Charles and Francois/Francis.
There are 6 grandchildren mentioned under the name Chovin and all definitely had anglo names.
