Alice, Thanks for reply. The only Chauvin found from our immediate family on this list was our great great uncle, Jacques Martin Chauvin, born March 22, 1809, and died 1878 at his wife's sister's house in the 7th District of Ascension Parish, near Gonzales, La. He was son of Jacques Augustin Chauvin from France, (who was a soldier in the war with Great Britain, "Battle of New Orleans", 1815), and Rose Aspasie Mayer, (German Ancestry) of St. John Parish. Jacques Martin had two (2) steamboats on the Mississippi River, at different times, i.e., "The Paragon" & "The Teche", docked at the Pape Vert landing, Union, La., where I was born. He had married Caroline LeBlanc of Union, La., January 5, 1829. He was buried at St. Michael's Cemetery in Convent, Lousiana in 1878.
