Hello! I would probably have too much to say to write it here. I am actually very much interested in the Chauvin family because I am about to publish a 1000 page book about my French ancestors established in North America and their families up to now. Half of it is actually dedicated to the Chauvins! Therefore, I would be more than happy to exchange info with you. If you can read French, you have access to the temporary index of the book on the Internet at http://www.parentele.com/ouvrages/ When the book is final, the index is probably going to be larger due to the texts I am currently adding, but it gives a good indication. Can you tell me how you are related to the Chauvins. What is your pedigree? How much do you know about this family? What are you interested in? What I would be very interested in in return for my info is what you know of the descendents of Marie Louise CHAUVIN and André WOODS. I - Marie Louise CHAUVIN was b (baptized) 28 jul 1773 in St. Louis, she m (married) Joseph GRAVIER from New Madrid (Missouri) St. Charles ca. 1801. Divorced 1804. She then married André (or Andrew) WOODS St. Charles 6 feb 1809. The marriage took place at church meaning that the first spouse was probably dead. Andrew WOODS was one of the partners of the Missouri Furs Company. All I know about their descendents is that she had one child from the first husband and seven from the second. II - She was one of the nine children of (Louis Alexandre) Jacques CHAUVIN (New-Orleans 1742 - 8 may 1826) m Marie Louise TAILLON, daughter of Joseph MICHEL dit TAILLON, one of the founder of St. Louis and Marie Louise BOSSET. III - (Louis Alexandre) Jacques CHAUVIN was one out of four children of Jacques Vincent CHAUVIN (Fort-Louis 9 jan 1715 - New Orleans 29 mar 1752) m ca 1741 Marie Jeanne d'AUVILLE (or DAUVILLE) (ca 1722 - New Orleans 27 mar 1804), daughter of François DAUVILLE and Marie Jeanne SERNANT. IV - Jacques Vincent CHAUVIN was one out of four children of Jacques CHAUVIN dit MONDON, sieur de CHARLEVILLE (b Montréal 17 mai 1672 - Fort-Condé = Mobile ca 1729) m Fort-Louis de la Mobile ca 1714 Marie Anne de LA VERGNE. Jacques CHAUVIN is with his three brothers and LEMOYNE d'IBERVILLE, one of the founders of the french colony of Louisiane. V - Jacques CHAUVIN is one of the eleven known children of Pierre CHAUVIN dit GRANDPIERRE (ca 1631 Vion, Sarthe, France - Montréal 4 aug 1699) m Ville-Marie = Montréal 16 sep 1682 Marthe LE H'AUTREUX (ca 1642/1643 Saint-Germain de Noyen-sur-Sarthe, Sarthe, France - Saint-François = Laval, PQ 25 fev 1714), daughter of René LE H'AUTREUX and Françoise LA CHAUMERLIER (?). Pierre CHAUVIN came from Vion in the west of France on jul 20, 1653 with Joseph Jérôme LE ROYER de LA DAUVERSIERE. He had been hired as a miller, with 105 other people by Paul de CHOMEDY de MAISONNEUVE to save the colony of Montréal in a hopeless situation. They arrived in Montréal on nov 16, 1653! But… it's such a long story! VI - Pierre CHAUVIN was one of the six known children of René CHAUVIN (d Vion, Sarthe, France nov 1638) m ca 1610 Catherine AVARD (d Vion 21 oct 1638). He was "closier" which means he rented the land he was working on against part of the harvest. My line comes from Marie Marthe CHAUVIN, one of Jacques CHAUVIN's sisters. She married Nicolas BARON. Therefore, if you are a descendant of Marie Louise CHAUVIN we are cousins. Now talkin about the two other CHAUVIN you mentionned: I am very interested to know more about their children and descendants as well as about the documents or info you found. I am looking forward to reading you here and/or by e-mail. Best regards
