Hi Warren,
The 1850 DC Census gives John S(impson) Chauncey as born in Delaware in 1790 (he was 60). Research says New Castle and Sussex Co were settled by the Swedes and the Dutch - leaving Kent Co for the English.
Just south of Dover is the first Methodist Chapel in this country. I find it interesting that both your John and mine were Methodists. I think they were cousins.
