I found some additional information in York County, Maine Cemetery Inscriptions, Vol 3 page 2353 In the South Side Road Cemetery rest the remains of: PATCH, George W 3-Sep-1809-5 Dec 1896 Elizabeth wife of George Patch 24 Sep 1816 - 30 July 1902 Patch, Charles H 1839-1928 Lucy A, wife of Charles 1837-1922 Sarah A, dau of George and Elizabeth PATCH died 24 Oct 1874 1874 is also the year of the birth of Sarah W CHAUNCEY who is listed as living with her PATCH grandparents in 1880. Could Sarah A not only be the mother of Sarah and Mable Chauncey, but also have died from complications of childbirth? The mystery is that if Sarah is the mother of the Chauncey girls, (I have found no other female PATCH, from George W's family) why was she buried as a PATCH and not a CHAUNCEY? Was she not married when she gave birth to the daughters? If she were divorced, would she have kept her maiden name? If she were married, wouldn't her grave say she was a CHAUNCEY? There a lot of speculation but no proof yet on the Chauncey link. Blin Notify Administrator about this message?
