Hello Cliff, thanks for responding. I am not looking for any one specific individual in MD, I have found several inferences that others in MD, Hartford & Baltimore Counties & elsewhere, were awarded land in Florida and possibly Georgia due to their service in the Rev. War. Some of the same names show up in the SE after 1800, and as you know, we have not been able to track any of them back to NC, so I have begun looking at VA and MD, especially any that just dissappeard. I recently discovered a Christopher Chancey, in the Army, in Texas in the 1850 census. He said he was from MD. In Anne Arundel Co. MD, there were several family names there in 1790, that I do not find in 1800...then, some of these names are in Bladen County NC in 1800. May or may not be the same people, but I decided to try and build a data base for the VA and MD Chancy/Chancey/Chauncey surnames in each state for the 1700s and 1800s. There appears to be little online data for the MD families...no one else appears to be attempting to research any of them. Here are some of the ones I have found on the net, if you would ,like to add anything to this, that would be good, but your old stuff is on paper and packed away I'm sure...so, I don't want you to dig out a bunch of old stuff just for this hit or miss project. George Chauncey, died Bet. 1715 - 1717 MD, married Sarah Smith Hanson Hollis,(may have been 2nd or 3rd marriages) January 1706/07. One son, George Jr. b. abt 1708 m. Margaret. Sons, George, John and Benjamin. George m. Mary. Children: Sarah b. 1766 George b. 1768 Martha b. abt 1772 William b. 1775 John, no further info. Benjamin Chauncey m. Elizabeth Brown March 22, 1791 Harford County. Children: Benjamin b. 1797 (Two females that may be unwed daughters or wives of some Chauncey, deceased...Ann Eliza Chauncey & Miranda Chauncey. These females are buried in the same plot area as is Benjamin b. 1797 and his wife, Sarah Rebecca Wood. St. George’s Episcopal Church, Perryman, Harford Co., Maryland) Benjamin and Rebecca had two children, Benjamin and Elizabeth. This is just about it Cliff, I do have more names, marriages ect but do not know where to add them in. Thanks again...Robert Notify Administrator about this message?
