I'm trying to verify the parents of Naomi Chatham b.Jul 6, 1881 d.Jun 29, 1941, Madison Co, GA. Married Columbus Fortson abt. 1900.
The 1900 Franklin Co, GA census shows Columbus and Naomi (age 18) Fortson living 3 families away from a George and Ellen A Chatham. Ellen is listed as having 5 children, with 5 living. The only 4 children in the household are Robert A. (16), James H. (14), William R. (11), and Amaria? (8).
The 1910 Madison Co, GA census shows a James H. Chatham (24) living with Columbus and Naomi Fortson, listed as brother-in-law. So George and Ellen might be a good match for Naomi's parents.
Just to add some confusion, Naomi fortson's death certificate lists father Silas Chatham, born GA, and no mother. However, I can find no Silas Chatham anywhere at the time of Naomi's birth.
Any info would be great. Thanks.
