HELP! I'M STUCK! James R. Chasteen, ARK/OK/IL

Help! I am stuck. Have been researching this line for over two years. Thought I had connected it, then hit too many conflicting family verbals with docs. Therefore, went back and started over.
I have two different sets of family Chasteen/Chastains being remembered by family:
1. Robert James Chastain b. 1862 Ark. m. Katie Alice Huckaby, Sebastian Co. Ark 1882.
2. James R. Chasteen b. 1886. m1) ? M2) Leona Gage. children: Alice Ida, Charles and James Franklin.

Have confirmed and documented Robert James Chastain's line, his son Martin m. Leona Gage in Okmulgee, OK in 1905. Martin and Leona are listed on 1910 Okmulgee OK Census, with their daughter Alice I., 2; also living with them was Martin's brother "Mana" i.e. Maney Benjimin buried Little Cemetary, Little OK.

No James R. Chasteen in 1910 Okmulgee census with wife and child.

However,

1920 Okmulgee OK census has:

James R. Chasteen (b. Ark), 34, Sarah L., 26, Alice I., 12, Charles, 8, and Frank, 6.

There is no longer a Martin and Leona with daughter Alice listed in 1920 census, but there is a James R. Chastain, with his daughter-in-law, Leona, living with him.

By 1920, Robert James Chastain and wife, Katie Alice Huckaby had divorced with Katie Alice Huckaby marrying a Mr. Walls. In 1900, I have her as head and son Maney and son Ed Walls living with her in Okmulgee, OK.

In 1920, Maney Chastain is still living with his mother, Katie Walls in Okmulgee, OK.

With verbal family history, I know James R. Chasteen moved to Illinois and died there in 1972. His son Charles Chasteen with his daughter, also moved to Illinois.

Through research, I found S. Dwayne Chasteen, the son of James Franklin Chasteen, the "Frank" listed on the 1920 Okmulgee OK Census with his father James R. Chasteen.

Through Dwayne Chasteen, I learned Frank Chasteen had moved to Texas, married, had Dwayne, divorced, remarried and had two more children. Dwayne was searching for Frank. I believe Frank left Texas and went to live in Illinois along with his father, James R. Chasteen, and his brother, Charles Chasteen. (Correction, heard from Frank's daughter who said he died in Temple, Texas and had been active with the Red Cross.)

PROBLEM! WHO are the parents of James R. Chasteen, b. 1886?

According to the 1920 Census, James R. Chasteen was born in Arkansas and both his parents were born in Georgia.

I have read all the listing for the 1900 Arkansas Census and cannot find a James Chasteen/Chastain who is 13/14 years old.

According to the 1920 Census, James R. Chasteen's wife, Sarah L. was born in Texas, as both her parents.

Family verbal history states Grandma Ida Alice Chasteen did not know her mother, but she "hated" her step-mother, Leona, because she was "mean".

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PUT THIS FAMILY TOGETHER?

HELP! HELP! HELP!

This is my husband's birth family. He was adopted at birth and after 48 years we were able to find his birth family. There have been wonderful reunions on all sides. However, his birth family does not know much about their ancestry.

Please can anyone help?
