My g-g-g-grandfather was George Patterson, b 1800 in old Buncombe Co., NC. In the mid 1820's, he married Rebecca Chastain in Haywood Co., NC. Rebecca was born ca 1799, in NC or SC. Her father was Elijah Chastain, son of Rev. John Chastain, son of Peter Chastain, Jr., son of immigrant Pierre Chastain, Sr. Pierre, who immigrated in 1700, was the son of Estienne, the son of Jacques, the son of Estienne Chastain.
Rebecca Chastain Patterson died in her 40's during the 1840's, and is buried in a family cemetery in the woods in Union Co., GA, just north of Blairsville.
Incidently, I had the priviledge of finding Pierre Chastain's grave this past year! He was my 7th g-grandfather.
